Content & Aim of Session
The students are an international cohort in Year 1, 2nd semester of the BSc Business Management. The observed 1-hour lesson observation took part within a longer 4-hour session held in Week 7, on the module "Operations and Project Management".
The aim of this Week 7 session was to conduct the formative assessment and gauge students’ understanding of the Operations & Project Management content to date. Students were introduced to the formative assessment task before being guided throughout the session toward completion. The formative assessment includes compiling an extended mind map of operational issues faced by the imaginary project client (RainyDay Café) over several rounds. The accompanying slides (which I used and had put together at short notice prior to the session) and the scoring sheet (shown to students during the session) are shown below:
